Day Boiler, the first DD69 album in nearly a decade, releases March 29th. The sixth album from the Cleveland musical collective returns to funk/rock territory with nine new songs.
The title “Day Boiler” is a slang reference to “day drinking”, and if things had gone differently it might have been the source of a possible “album concept”.
The album was nearly a series of songs chronicling a character who starts off their day optimistically, but endures a series of difficulties that result in them abandoning their plans and just heading to a bar where they drink the day away. Songs “One For The Road” and “Seeing Snakes” (more slang, this time about being “three sheets to the wind”) still remain from the original idea.
However a “concept” album is a little too lofty for this bunch, and didn’t come to fruition. But the name (and those songs) stuck.
Day Boiler is available at Bandcamp and all major streaming platforms.
